Aaliyah Dana Haaughton rose to prominence after the release of her first album Age Ain't Nothing but a Number in 1994. It was Gold in the year she turned fifteen years old. R. Kelly was a significant influence in this project which brought her into the limelight. The year 1996 saw her release her second album One In A Million with Jermaine dupri and Timbaland. The album contained the top-selling track If Your Girl only knew. Aaliyah became a household name as an R&B performer with the launch of her sophomore album, One In A Million. Aaliyah appeared alongside legendary Jet-Li, the famous martial artist in Romeo Must Die (2000), an action and romance film. Joel Silver, the film producer, saw her during the awards ceremony and kindly offered the role. In 2002 she got to appear in the horror film Queen of the Damned which was based on the Anne Rice novel. In 2003, she starred in The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions. The performer received four Grammy nominations in 1999 2001 2002 and 2003. The actress is the first Indian American to be born in Connecticut. Mann is the abbreviation for her husband's first name Mankad. Mann employs Aarti Man and Aarti Mahumdar as her professional name. The acting career of her began in mid-2000's with minor roles on TV and films. Some of her most notable roles include Grey's Anatomy, Suits and Leverage. She's appeared in many commercials, including Volvo's global car producer. She is a resident of Los Angeles where she continues to work as an actor.
